Deciding to develop BW film at home

Black and white film photography has become a thing of the past. Especially in India, it has become difficult to even source decent black and white films. Even if you do manage to procure these films, it is extremely difficult to find a good place to get your films developed. Personally, I've had bad experiences with films coming back with scratches, fogged films, spots on the film - all indications that the film wasn't developed properly. Irrespective of the quality of film development, you can get charged a couple of hundred rupees just for the development. Getting a print is even more expensive!

And so, I've finally decided to try my hand at developing BW films at home. Some of the reasons I wanted to do this:
  • More control wrt quality of development
  • Much much cheaper
  • Satisfaction :)
